HTC EVO 4G .6 Froyo Update Offcially Available to Early .3 Android 2.2 Adopters
It looks like it’s a Froyo day today again with lots of Android 2.2 action. Besides the Motorola Droid 2 being available for pre-order we also have Motorola Droid handsets officially updating OTA to Froyo and HTC EVO 4G Froyo .3 early adopters getting some love from HTC.

That’s right, HTC and Sprint are now ready to offer those EVO 4G owners that went on ahead and installed Froyo build 3.26.651.3 manually, the update that will take them to the official Froyo build 3.26.651.6. A few days ago we’ve shown you how to manually install the leaked .6 Android 2.2 update but we also advised you that you’d be better off waiting for the real thing to come out.
That said, we’re still getting plenty of comments about various HTC EVO 4G performance issues spotted after Froyo came along. HTC hasn’t addressed any of the issues EVO 4G customers have experienced since the Android 2.2 launch, but what seems to fix a lot of the problems for various owners is performing a hard reset and installing a fresh Android 2.2 update followed by the installation of all those apps that give you headaches now. That won’t guarantee that your Froyo issues will disappear but you can definitely try it out.
Even if a few weeks later than initially anticipated, it’s nice to see that Froyo is being rolled out to various devices after seeing it run on Google’s Nexus One. The Motorola Droid X, the HTC Droid Incredible, the LG Ally, the Samsung Galaxy S (and all its flavors) will also get Froyo in the upcoming weeks or months. But, on the same note, it’s really disappointing to see devices like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Dell Streak ship out with Android 1.6 on board. After all these two devices would be more than capable to run at least Android 2.1 out of the box, but they’ll certainly deal very well with Froyo too.
Getting back to the matter at hand, we’ll be waiting for your comments on this new Froyo .6 update for the EVO 4G.
