X-Dream Gyroxus Gaming Chair Adds Immersion, Price Tag, To Gaming

The X-Dream Gyroxus Gives Your Leaning An Extra Boost, Letting You Feel The Movement Sensation Slightly More

I’ve seen some serious gaming chairs in my time, folks, and they all are out to do basically the same thing: increase the psychological impact of your gaming experience by giving you more tactile feedback, letting you “feel” the movement. And now, the X-Dream Gyroxus Gaming Chair means to do just that, and for less cash than a lot of others.

The Gyroxus does its thing completely without motors or power assist of any sort; in fact, technical explanation on this thing seems to be a bit short on the ground. Three sources couldn’t give me any better idea on how it works, so I went straight to the manufacturer. Turns out the whole thing works (if I understand the diagrams correctly) kind of on a system of belts and pulleys that, when you pull on a central lever while you work the controller, it works the belts and suchlike, moving the chair around.

In fact, Gyroxus proper seems to think that it’s an aerobic exercise, stating on their Twitter that it’s “National Chocolate Day”, and that a Gyroxus would help “burn off some of those calories” from celebrating.

I’m not going to go either way on that one other than to call the claim a bit dubious, but it’s not a bad idea either way. You can get these in the US right now for about $250, but buying them in Great Britain will cost about double that, and they’re taking preorders as we speak.
