HP Leadership Tells Regular Employees That webOS Tablet Coming Next Year
There’s been some big changes at HP lately, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. And by that, I mean we’re still getting webOS tablet rumors from HP. According to tech blog Engadget, HP VP Todd Bradley mentioned during an all-hands HP meeting that the “HP Hurricane”, a webOS tablet, is coming in Q1 2011.

Obviously, a webOS tablet from HP has been rumored since HP bought Palm a few months back. Since then, it’s been one of the oft-repeated rumors/speculation of the tech blog circuit, right up there in volume with the CDMA iPhone and Wii 2.
What’s interesting, as Engadget pointed out, is that if true, it would put HP on the record as coming out with three tablets with three different operating systems. There’s the HP Slate 500, with Windows 7 for enterprise customers. There is the Android-based book reader, the eStation Zeen. And then this webOS tablet, which could be called the PalmPad, based on their recent trademarks. But, HP Hurricane is a pretty bad-ass name – if you ask us.
There seems to be a lot of anticipation for a webOS tablet. Despite the spattering of Android tablets, a lot of folks seem to think that a webOS-powered tablet from HP could be an honest competitor to the iPad.
