BlackBerry Curve 9300 Officially Unveiled, Also Confirmed As BlackBerry OS 6 Ready
Rogers may have listed and begun selling the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 last week, but why should that stop RIM from making it official today. Well, that seems to be exactly what has happened. The press release hit the wire a short while ago and we (officially) learn that the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 will be available “beginning in August.”

Now that the announcement of the handset itself is out of the way, we can mention the other details that are provided in the release. First and foremost, the BlackBerry Curve 3G should also be coming available with other carriers. That said, it looks like they decided to wait because as of now we are unsure which other carriers those will be.
The other nice little tidbit includes the fact that the Curve 3G is not going to be considered outdated once OS 6 comes available for the public, because it “is BlackBerry 6 ready.” Then again, having just announced OS 6 last week, I guess it should almost go without saying. After all, if it wasn’t then I can imagine some potential customers having looked right past the Curve 3G.
With that, lets recap the features a little bit. The handset comes sporting a 2.4 inch 320 x 240 pixel display, optical trackpad, QWERTY keyboard with backlight, 256MB ROM, 256MB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, 2 megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 3.5mm headphone jack and an 1150 mAh battery. In addition, the Curve 9300 will also have a microSD card slot and ships with a 2GB microSD card included.
And lastly, network support will come in the form of quadband GSM/EDGE with European or North American 3G support. Of course, given it has already been listed with Rogers, the North American 3G is sort of like a given. That said, the $79.99 that Rogers is asking sounds pretty fair for those specs.
