Bungie Waves Goodbye To Xbox 360 Exclusivity, Says Hello To PS3 [Bungie, Mastermind Behind Halo, Posts Job Listing For PlayStation 3 Software Engineers]
No matter how advanced a hardware manufacturer makes a game console, it’s not going to go anywhere without some hard hitting titles. In fact, just about every game console on the market today has their fair share of exclusive titles that have been deemed must haves by loyal gamers. For instance, on the Nintendo side of things we have Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Kirby, Donkey Kong and more, on the PlayStation side of things we have LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted and on the Xbox 360, we have Halo.

While it may seem like the Xbox 360 is scarce if their only hard hitting title is Halo (which it isn’t, by a long shot) but upon viewing the sales numbers it becomes quite evident as to why that is so. For instance, the latest Halo title, Halo 3, managed to sell around 11 million copies as of July 2010 grossing over $300 million in its first week.
However, released way back in 2007, loyal Halo fans are looking for something more which is soon to be delivered with the forthcoming Halo: Reach Xbox 360 exclusive that gives gamers a chance to relive the classic Halo multiplayer we’ve all come to know and love with some added bonuses thrown in such as Armor Abilities.
Depending on who you ask, the Halo franchise itself is a great one but it never would have existed without Bungie. Originally developing Halo: CE for the original Xbox, Bungie has become one the most highly regarded game development studios in the industry. However, up until the development of Halo: Reach, Bungie had worked closely with Microsoft releasing their titles only for the Xbox 360 game console.
It looks like that is about to come to an end as it was just noted on Bungie’s job listing page that the company is looking for a “software development engineer in test” for the Playstation 3. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Bungie had already sold their soul to the mega-publisher Activision (Halo Guitar Hero anyone?) some time ago which specializes in releasing games for a wide spectrum of consoles.
Interested in the job? Bungie states applicats must have a strong understand of the Playstation 3 SDK along with experience with client testing, automation and debugging.
