BlackBerry Torch 9800 (Slider) Specs & Features Are Official

New Teaser Site Reveals BlackBerry Torch 9800 Details Including Full Specs & Features; Gallery Also Available]

Just earlier we told you that the FCC has approved the BlackBerry 9800 Torch Slider and now, thanks to an AT&T teaser page that was probably made public too early, we can confirm that the new BlackBerry smartphone is going to be called the Torch and we have plenty of details for you.

The phone is about to get official, so stay with us for more details on this upcoming RIM device. Before AT&T properly announces the device we’ll take a look at their official Torch page and check out the full specs and features of the device for you:

  • 3.2-inch touchscreen display
  • 480 x 360 resolution
  • full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard
  • optical trackpad
  • 5-megapixel autofocus camera with video and scenes
  • BlackBerry 6 OS with integrated search and new UI
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Servicer, BlackBerry Internet Service, Mobile Instant Messaging,
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP

  • Full HTML tabbed browser
  • Social networking support for Facebook, Twitter and MySpace
  • Music and Video playing support including iTunes sync
  • 1,300mAh Lithium battery

Those are some impressive specs right there and the phone looks stunning in the gallery picture below. I did say I’m not a fan of sliders and the Torch is such a phone, but it looks like RIM managed to create a great device right here.

The phone might not be the iPhone-killer we’ve been waiting for RIM to make but it’s definitely a great smartphone that should appeal to current RIM customers. I bet customers in the UAE and other countries are going to be pretty pissed off at their countries for crippling such great phones from RIM by banning some very popular BlackBerry services.

Off topic, I wonder if the Torch does the Death Grip too!

the torch is not an android device….

    2. Chris Smith says:

Yes, of course it isn’t; meant to say BlackBerry smartphone there. This goes to show how much I talk about Android since I seem to have to mention it even when it’s obviously not the case. Fixed!
