Sprint Goes Live With Samsung Epic 4G Teaser Page

Details for the Samsung Epic 4G have been slowly coming to light. Granted some of those details such as the release date are still a mystery. But we did see the full spec sheet revealed last week. And based on that we know the goodies to expect in terms of 4 inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.1, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, front facing VGA camera and 1GHz Hummingbird processor.

That said, Sprint has recently gone live with the Epic 4G teaser page, and hopefully the previously rumored release date of August 20th is accurate. Either way, I am thinking an official announcement is coming sooner as opposed to later.

All said and done, the teaser page on Sprint is not offering all that much new in terms of details. But at the same time is is further confirming details that we already knew. That and, it seems to be doing a fairly nice job of showing off some of the features such as the 5 megapixel video recording, the games and my personal favorite Android keyboard — Swype.

In addition, the page also lists the goodies such as 4G and the Mobile Hotspot functionality. Of course, neither of those features will be good for everyone. After all, at present the 4G service is only available in roughly 50 markets across the US. For those not in a 4G coverage area, worry not because the Epic 4G is also a 3G device. And as for the Mobile Hotspot, that comes with an extra charge of $29.99 per month, and personally, I cannot see everyone wanting or needing that add-on.

Otherwise, it looks like once again we will wait at the mercy of Sprint, wait for an official release date and price announcement. The one nice thing, the Epic 4G promo page is actually soothing when kept open in a background tab, nothing like the gentle sound of ocean waves to keep you calm and typing at work.
