Microsoft Announces Office 2011 For Mac Pricing

Microsoft Office For Mac To Begin Shipping in October, Will Be Priced From $119 & Up

We have already seen the official announcement for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, it can way back in February, and since then we have seen a few screenshots hit the web. All things considered, its been pretty quite on the Office for Mac news front.

That said, there is one fairly big change coming in the 2011 version — Entourage is being replaced with Outlook, which sounds like will either be loved or hated depending on the user. Personally, I liked Entourage, but its been a long while since I used it. Otherwise, the Office for Mac 2011 software looks like its going to be rather affordable. Which is something I was not able to say when I purchased the 2004 version some years back.

But getting back to the latest, Office for Mac 2011. This year the software suite will come in two versions — Mac Home and Student and Mac Home and Business. Pricing for the Home and Student version will be $119 for a single license and $149 for a family pack license that allows you to install the software on up to three Macs. As for the Home and Business version, that will be $199 for a single license and $279 for a multi-license version that allows installation on two computers.

All things considered, not bad in terms of pricing. According to Macworld, the price is actually anywhere from 20 to 50 percent lower than as compared to Office 2008.

Otherwise, both versions of the software contain Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Messenger. Aside from the pricing, the other difference between the home and student and the home and business is the inclusion of Outlook in the home and business version.

Finally, at present the Office for Mac 2008 is still out and available and for those who need Office now and cannot wait, you can stop worrying because you will be able to get a free upgrade for Office 2011 once it is officially available.
