Rover Puck WiMAX Hotspot Appears At FCC
Unless you have tethering enabled on whatever device you carry with you you’re pretty much out of lock in terms of mobile connectivity without a near by WiFi hotspot. Luckily, various hardware manufacturers and wireless carriers have come forth to support mobile hotspots that give consumers access to high speed mobile broadband which can be used with their laptops (or any other WiFi enabled device).

While there are many options to choose from when it comes to mobile hotspots, most of them are simply 3G enabled which means they do not run on the fastest networks out there. This is most likely due to the fact that newer generation networks such as 4G and LTE are only recently coming to the forefront with older connection speeds like EDGE and 3G have been around for much longer.
Despite many offerings being 3G enabled, there are some devices out there that feature the ability to connect up to Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network and feature WiFi hotspot abilities. Today, we have a brand new offering to show you from Clearwire - one of the nation’s several wireless broadband providers.
Their product, pictured above, is called the Rover Puck. As you can see, this device features a much different form factor than what we’ve seen before living up to its ‘Puck’ moniker.
Anyways, there isn’t much else to say about this device other than the fact that it’s design is a bit out of the ordinary for such a product – which was already mentioned above.
Just touching on another topic quickly – I’m curious to know how many of you out there actually own one of these mobile WiFi hotspots? Out of you, how many of you would give up your dedicated hotspot device for full smart phone tethering support if both services had the same exact features?
