Motorola Sage To Be AT&T's Next Android Powered Device?
While the Apple’s iPhone has been receiving a lot of press as of late (some good, most bad) Google’s Android open source mobile operating system has too been gaining some fire. This is largely thanks to the immense amount of Android powered handsets that are hitting the market as of late. Not only do we have reigning champs like the HTC EVO 4G but we have some newcomers like the recently released Motorola DROID X and the Samsung Galaxy X (aka the Samsung Vibrant/Captivate for T-Mobile and AT&T, respectively).

Just because we already have such hard hitting devices on the market that are running Google’s Android, it doesn’t mean that handset manufacturers are going to slow with their releases. While Verizon is no stranger to Android powered devices with the entire Droid line up (Droid, Droid Incredible, Droid Eris, Droid X) AT&T is a bit of a latecomer to the game. Sure, they have the Motorola Backflip (which hasn’t recieved much critical acclaim) and the much more known, and loved Samsung Captivate – both running Android.
However, considering they have the iphone, their Android offerings have generally been overshadowed. Seeing how Motorola’s entire line up of Android devices has been more or less loved, it’s no secret that they would be getting buddy buddy with Android even more than they already have been. To add to this, a recent FCC filing was spotted that involved a certain handset named the Motorola Sage.
While we don’t know much about the device, we do know that it is to feature 7.2Mbps HSDPA/2Mbps HSUPA on 850/1900MHz bands. Additionally, it will feature WiFi, Bluetooth, quadband EDGE, AGPS and a digital compass. Now, there’s no telling what carrier the device will actually drop on or when but based on specs alone, we’re going to say it’s very likely that we’ll see this one hit AT&T.
