YouTube has made a change for the video upload limit that they had initially set. Originally pegged at 10 minutes, the maximum upload length of videos has now been upped to 15 minutes.
This means that amateur directors have more leg room to upload and share their videos online.
Initially, YouTube did allow users to upload limitless videos provided that they were part of YouTube’s partner programs.
The 10 minute limit was enforced back then to cut back on piracy and with the additional 5 minutes, a minimal impact is expected to come into play.
A reason for the increase in upload length was YouTube’s reported Content ID system and many other powerful tools for copyright owners.
Content ID is YouTube’s automated system that can identify and flag videos that it suspects contain copyrighted content.
And since most major U.S. movie studios make use of the said system, they are now able to increase upload limits.
Well, 15 minutes may be an improvement and at least now, you don?t have to worry about cutting down your videos, especially if you are on the verge of sharing a major motion picture of your own.
