Verizon Wireless Internal Blog Screenshots Leaked; Lists Motorola Droid 2 Release As August 12th [Internal Verizon Blog Lists Droid 2 Release Date As August 12th, Reconfirms It Will Arrive With Android 2.2]
How could we be expected to even let one full day pass without some rumors and leaks surrounding the Motorola Droid 2. Yesterday it was the User Guide, this morning it was cases at Best Buy and now we have the launch date. Or at least the launch date that is listed on an internal blog with Verizon Wireless.

That said, we have to caution that this could be a giant internet hoax, after all nothing is final until it is officially announced — and then it can still change. Regardless, the Verizon blog tips August 12th as the official release date. Assuming that is correct we should see the long awaited official announcement arrive sooner rather than later. After all, August 12th is only two weeks away at this point.
Furthermore, August 12th is a Thursday, which is said to have been a good day for past Verizon launches. And in addition to the launch date, the blog post also re-confirms some other details.
Mention was made of the Droid 2 launching with Android 2.2 Froyo, 3G Mobile Hotspot capability, the hardware QWERTY keyboard, the pre-installed version of Swype and 8GB of internal storage. Plus the Droid 2 will also be shipping with an 8GB microSD card.
Otherwise, the Droid 2 will ship with Blockbuster and Skype as well as some of the Verizon apps including Backup Assistant, City ID, MyVerizon, NFL Mobile, V Cast Music, Tones & Videos, Visual Voice Mail and the not really needed VZ Navigator. Of course, that last one is not really needed because there are good free alternatives available such as Maps Navigation from Google.
Bottom line here, if you are considering an Android phone with Verizon, at this point it may be wise to hold off a few weeks before making a purchase. Especially for those hoping to get an Android phone with a hardware QWERTY.
