Google and Yahoo Take Over Search Market in Japan
Enough of the Google-China row, let us focus our attention on another Asian powerhouse in Japan. The second wealthiest country in the planet has made arrangements for Yahoo Japan to hand over its search functions to Google.
This means that Yahoo Japan will also make use of Google’s online advertising and distribution systems, a move that will essentially give Google 90% of the search market in Japan.
And while this should be another feather in the cap of Google, the same is a major setback for Micrsoft’s Bing.
Bing was scheduled to take over Yahoo’s search engine for the U.S. later in the year and apparently this will not include Japan.
There were also rumors that Baidu, the search leader of China would be dominating Asia’s search market but it looks like this will not happen.
Google has scored another major breakthrough and this should catapult (if not strengthen) their hold at the top of the search market.
