FlatPad A10 Android Tablet Comes Available For Those In The US [FlatPad A10 Android Tablet Features 10.2" Display, ARM Cortex A8 CPU & Google Android 2.1, Still Looks Like A Cheap iPad-Clone]
I should clarify this by saying, I am all for seeing more Android tablets come available. Heck, I want to buy an Android tablet, specifically an Android tablet with a 10 inch display. That said, we here in the US now have another option to consider, though I am not sure I would be willing to make the purchase in this case.

The model I am referring to is the FlatPad A10 from Flat Computing. And there is one thing I can say with certainly — it is running Android. There is also another in that this looks strikingly similar to another popular tablet — I am sure most of the TFTS readers will be able to make a guess as to which.
That alone is a pretty big turn off for me. Yes, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but there is a time when you can go overboard. Given that, it is a shame because if you take a look at the specs and the pricing of the FlatPad A10 — it seems like a decent offering.
First things first, the price — $289. Well, $289 plus shipping and tax, which in my case would bring the A10 price up to $324.51. Still, not all that bad for a 10 inch tablet.
In terms of specs, the A10 has a 10.2 inch resistive touchscreen display with a 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 256MB RAM, 2GB internal flash storage, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, accelerometer and Android 2.1. Other features include a headphone jack, one USB 2.0 port, built-in stereo speakers and a battery that is said to be able to provide up to 5 hours of run time with Wi-Fi turned on (or 7 hours with the Wi-Fi off).
In addition the tablet is noted as shipping with Google Maps, support for playing and watching a variety of audio and video formats and viewing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files. There is even the promise of Android 2.2 coming in August.
With that, who is willing to take the plunge on a purchase?
