Camangi Market Looking To Become Premier App Market For Android Tablets? [Camangi Begins Inviting Developers To Create Android Apps Designed For 6-10 Inch Android Devices]

The Android tablet market is not all that hot at the moment, that is not to say it will not improve but there are some issues with the current players. For one, the devices (at least the ones I have seen) have not been all that great in terms of performance. That said, the other big issue comes in with the Android Market — and the lack of access that the current tablets have.

For those who may not be quite as familiar with the way Android works. A company can make an Android device, but that does not necessarily mean it will be a Google experience device. In other words, some of the nicer parts of Android will be left out — and most notable there is the official Android Market. Sure there are alternate markets available except they tend to be sparsely filled and will in many cases lack the bigger name apps such as the Kindle app.

And one of those alternative markets is the Camangi Market, which coincidentally is still listed as being in beta. Otherwise, its run by the same company that makes the WebStation tablet — Camangi. And this tablet is a perfect example, it runs Android (albeit 1.5) and has access only to the Camangi Market. Users can install other apps by way of .APK files, but for some that is not an ideal method. For one it is sometimes hard to find .apk files.

But moving forward, Camangi has reportedly been working to end some of the current frustration with these markets and are said to have put out a call for developers to develop apps with 6-10 inch display sizes in mind. Of course, given they have their tablet (a 7 inch model) this all seems a little self serving.

That said, I do happen to have a WebStation (which in full disclosure was provided my Camangi) and would like to see these alternatives and also Android tablets in general succeed. Such being the case, those interested can head on over to the Camangi Market website for some more information.
