BlackBerry 9780 Spotted Running BlackBerry OS 6

Unannounced BlackBerry Bold 9780 Shown Running BlackBerry OS 6, Gets WebKit Based Web Browser Demoed

Research in Motion is really making a push towards releasing the next best thing. With Android and iOS, that push couldn’t have come any sooner. In fact, RIM will be holding a joint press conference with AT&T next Tuesday to give us a sneak peak at what they having cooking over in their labs. Unfortunately, there’s no telling exactly what they will announce but a hunch tells us it will have something to do with BlackBerry OS 6, a BlackBerry tablet of sorts and the infamous BlackBerry slider.

If RIM were to announce all 3 of these simultaneously it would definitely p9ut their name on the map but perhaps it would dilute the hype surrounding the individual products. What ever the case may be, arguably the most important of the above mentioned products is BlackBerry OS 6. The reason resting on the fact that if RIM can’t push out good software that can keep up with behemoths like Android and iOS then chances are the hardware they release to run the software won’t be very good either.

Anyways, today a video of the unannounced BlackBerry Bold 9780 running BlackBerry OS 6 has hit the Internet. This video does a great job showing off everything that will be improved and added with the new operating system. Things to look out for is the newer notification system that makes it extremely easy to stay in the loop and the updated home screen that will allow for simpler application launches.

One thing that will really help BlackBerry OS 6 is the WebKit based browser. Previous BlackBerrys were generally known to display a crippled version of the Internet but with the addition of WebKit, that can all be put in the past. From the looks of it, this new browser is extremely usable with full web pages loading and being displayed very quickly. Even better is the fact that RIM is expected to beef up both the OS and browser speeds ahead of its official launch.
