Unlocked Motorola XT720 Selling On Newegg For United States

US Gets Unlocked Motorola XT720, Android But No 3G

The Motorola Milestone XT720 never made it to the United States, but now us Yanks can get our hands on the Android phone (‘tumor’ and all) by way of Newegg.com. The computer hardware retailer is no stranger to selling unlocked European phones to Americans, but this one, like many of them, doesn’t have American 3G bands, so we’ll have to do with 2G/EDGE.

Newegg is asking $599.99, which is pretty high, actually, considering the XT720 is sort of a mid-range Android phone. They’re also listing it as the “Milestone 2″, which is a bit odd, since it isn’t. Some think that the rumored “Droid 2″ coming later this summer (allegedly) may be called the “Milestone 2″ overseas, like the first Droid.

At any rate, the Milestone XT720 is a nice mid-range Android phone. Her specs:

  • 3.7-inch screen
  • 720MHz Processor
  • 512M RAM
  • 8MP Camera (720 video recording)

Considering that every American carrier now has a decent Android phone, you’ve got to wonder exactly who would buy this – and for such an extravagant price, to boot. Although, with the demise of the Nexus One, there isn’t a good unlocked Android phone in the United States, so it could fill that niche if you went to a prepaid GSM carrier like Simple Mobile.

At any rate, it’s at Newegg now. $599.99.
