Droid X Getting Android 2.2 Already? [More Pictures of Droid X's Running Android 2.2 Show Up Online, Is Verizon Sending Out The OTA Update?]

A few days ago, some sites begun posting pictures of Droid X phones running Android 2.2. Because we were expecting Froyo to come to the Droid X’s next month and it’s so easy to fake those Android ‘About Phone’ pages now, we passed on the story. But now, more and more outlets are posting pictures from readers with their Droid X on Android 2.2. Has Verizon begun rolling out the update?

One of the more interesting stories comes from Droid-Life. One of their readers purchased a Droid X via eBay. What they found was really incredible – the phone was pre-loaded with Andorid 2.2. Sounds to us like some Verizon or Motorola employee got a comped phone and sold it on eBay for some quick dough.

eBay stories aside, with a few more sites posting Android 2.2 shots, it’s been suggested by some that Verizon may be doing a test OTA, maybe rolling out the update to 1% of Droid X users to see if any problems arise. We know from the Android 2.1-on-first-Droid saga that’s apart of Verizon’s standard operating procedure regarding OTA updates.

At any case, some lucky Droid X owners have the Android 2.2 update – or they’re savy enough to mess around in the phone’s config files.
