BlackBerry App World Ready For BlackBerry 9800
Next week, AT&T and RIM are going to be unveiling a mystery product at a press event in New York City. It’s widely speculated to be the BlackBerry 9800, the touchscreen slider that’s supposed to help RIM compete the Android phones and the iPhone. Need some proof that the ’9800 will be shown off next week? The phone has been added to the App World submission page.

For those out of the know, the BlackBerry App World is RIM’s app store for the BB platform. The developer submission page for App World now allows developers to add the “9800″ to the list of specified support devices. As well – BB OS 6 has been added to the “minimum OS” requirements as well. Wow!
Remember that although it’s been leaked all over CrackBerry and other top BlackBerry sites, the BlackBerry 9800 has never been confirmed by RIM. So – this is sort of a backdoor way of RIM confirming that the 9800 is coming. Not like all those leaked shots of the slider were renders or something – but it’s something at least.
To recap, the 9800 has really intrigued some in the BlackBerry community the past few months. It’s got a touchscreen, but unlike the Storm, retains the classic BlackBerry keyboard. It’ll have 512MB of RAM and should be the first phone to ship with BB6, the new BlackBerry OS.
