ZumoCast App For The iPhone & iPad Will Stream Media From Your Home Computer [Watch Video & Play Music Stored On Your Home Computer While On The Go Using ZumoCast]

Some readers may be familiar with the name ZumoDrive, and for those left wondering, its a cloud-based storage app from a company called Zecter. Well, those who are using ZumoDrive may be interested in learning about a new offering — ZumoCast. As for what ZumoCast will do — allow you to store audio, video and image files on your home computer and access them from on the go.

First things first though, as of now ZumoCast is not yet publicly available, but the good news is that there is public beta opening and you can sign up and try to get an account. If interested, just hit up ZumoCast.com and enter your email in the box. Of course there is no guarantee that by giving up your email you will be allowed in, but hey, its almost always fun to check out new products before they are readily available.

Moving on though, ZumoCast sounds fairly similar to ZumoDrive, except for one major difference — ZumoCast does not use the cloud to store your files. Instead everything is stored on your local computer, whether it be Windows or Mac. Otherwise, the ZumoCast app is expected to launch initially with an app for the iPad and iPhone and then at some point in the future, on other mobile platforms. No mention was made as to which other platforms would be included, but given that ZumoDrive is on both webOS and Android — that may be a clue.

Bottom line here, ZumoCast sounds like a good way to be able to watch video, listen to music or view images that are stored on your home computer. The one catch here, and not surprisingly, is that anything with DRM is not going to be supported. Well, that and your home computer must be turned on, but that last one seems fairly obvious.

As for pricing, nothing was mentioned as of yet. However as a comparison, ZumoDrive comes free with 2GB of storage and then paid options available for more. In terms of more storage, 10GB of storage for $2.99 per month with options for 25GB, 50GB and higher coming in at $6.99 and $9.99 per month.
