RIM, AT&T To Announce Mystery Product Next Week Tuesday

RIM and AT&T To Unveil Something On August 3rd, Everybody Knows It's The BlackBerry 9800

The folks at BGR just got their invites to a press event being held by AT&T and RIM in New York next Tuesday, August 3rd. What could they possibly be announcing? Only one thing would require such a grand unveiling, and that would be the BlackBerry 9800.

The BlackBerry 9800 “Slider” has really captured the imagination of the BlackBerry community the past few months or so. We know that it’ll have a touchscreen and slide-down keyboard. It’ll also be running the new BlackBerry OS 6.0, which is supposed to be more touch-friendly than previous versions of the operating system.

In addition to AT&T here in the ‘States, the BlackBerry 9800 is also rumored to be a Rogers exclusive in Canada. Some specs thrown around include 512MB of RAM, 700MHz processor, 3.5-inch screen, etc. etc. We’ll see on Tuesday how much of that comes true.

It’s worth noting that although they’ll probably talk about the BlackBerry 9800 – it’s unconfirmed. They could talk about the BlackBerry tablet or something, actually.

Are you excited for the BlackBerry 9800? Will you buy one? Do you think it’ll be able to compete with iOS and Android? Chime in below.
