CD Design's iPhone Game Pad Hits Prototype Stage

iPhone Gamers Will Get A Chance To Control Games With Buttons on the iPhone Game Pad

One thing that’s been a rather common lament for a whole lot of iPhone gamers–is that they’re limited to touchscreen gaming. Thus, any console gaming ports are sort of left out in the cold. Sure, you could play Boomshine with no trouble, but try and get a copy of, say, Donkey Kong Country. But that’s not so much a problem any more with the prototype of the iPhone Game Pad from CD Design.

It’s basically exactly what it says on the box–a game pad but for the iPhone. It slips over the outside easily, with connectors inside the pad that allows it to connect externally, and allow the controls on the game pad to control the operations on the iPhone screen, which is now located inside the game pad.

Interestingly, it only works with the original iPhone, though word is they’re already working on a 3G / 3GS version to come. Being as it’s just a prototype, there’s no word on pricing or release dates, but still, it certainly would have a market from the sounds of things.
