Amazon Germany Canning Nokia N8 Pre-Orders [Amazon.de Cancels Nokia N8 Pre-Orders, Says That Nokia Unsure About Release Date]

We’ve been pretty positive about the Nokia N8 here at TFTS, as it looks like it could get Nokia back in the game with the big screen, awesome camera and all-new Symbian OS. But – the news that Amazon.de has canceled all Nokia N8 pre-orders because of Nokia isn’t good.

Those who pre-ordered the phone on Amazon.de received an e-mail from the retailer three day ago, apologizing and informing them that they had hoped to get the Nokia N8 in a timely manner and that they try to keep their database up-to-date, but they’ve had to cancel pre-orders as developers sometimes change their plans.

You’ve got to doubt that the Nokia N8 is being canceled worldwide or anything. But, this doesn’t look good and you’ve got to imagine that something has gone on behind the scenes here between Nokia and Amazon that would result in Amazon canceling the pre-orders for the phone. Not sure how many pre-orders were placed and canceled, but that’s still (sort of) lost customers for Nokia.

Previously, August 25th had been pinned as the release date for the Nokia N8 in the UK. During their recent most earnings call, Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasuvo (who’s been getting a lot of heat lately, if you don’t read the news) said that the N8 was coming at the “end of the third quarter”, which could mean late September.

At whatever rate, the Nokia N8 looks like a good phone and we wouldn’t mind giving it an honest try. But it’s hard not to lose faith in it after these mind-games from Nokia.
