Samsung Epic 4G Coming August 20th? [Sprint's Next 4G Phone With Keyboard Coming In Couple Of Weeks, Samsung Video Hints At August 20th]

The HTC EVO 4G may have been the first 4G phone on Sprint’s network – but many users in this day and age still prefer the tactile feedback of a real keyboard. If you’re in that boat, the Samsung Epic 4G – the keyboard-laden 4G variant of the Samsung Galaxy S Android superphone – may be for you and it’s rumored to becoming August 20th.

Why August 20th? Samsung has a number of product preview videos that are showcasing the features of the Samsung Galaxy S phones. The ones for the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant (the T-Mobile and AT&T Galaxy S phones) were added to the page the day the phone came out. And, you’ve got it, the Epic 4G is previewed to be coming soon on August 20th, a Friday. Remember that Sprint released the HTC EVO 4G on a Friday.

Still not convinced? Somebody at Samsung Mobile US wrote on Twitter that the Epic 4G was coming ‘in a few weeks’. Later, the same Twitter account said that “no launch date/price but its’ coming out this summer.” As far as rumored release dates go – August 20th is sounding really good at the the moment.

In case you haven’t been following the Samsung Galaxy S – it’s another one of these Android superphones and it’s Samsung’s big entry into the Android top-tier. It’s already been released overseas but in the US, Samsung is releasing a differently named and styled variant for each carrier. The Samsung Epic 4G is Sprint’s – and it’ll be the only one in the US with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Isn’t it an irony that Sprint has the best three phones on the market. If you are looking for a smartphone the HTC Evo 4G or the Samsung Epic 4G have no equal, even when you compare them with so so called iconic iPhone. When it comes to push to talk the Motorola i1 is the best in its class, it is the first Android based Push to Talk and currently the only one.
