New BlackBerry Bold 9780 Appears Out of the Blue
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is apparently going to get a successor this year. The Bold 9780 has apparently been leaked and we can’t wait for RIM to confirm it. The Bold 9700 was recently featured in Apple’s latest press event as Cupertino included it among the smartphones that are also vulnerable to various Death Grips and RIM wasn’t particularly happy with that inclusion.

And the Canadian-based manufacturer is now said to have a Bold 9780 on the pipe although there’s nothing official out there yet. The phone is apparently a regular BlackBerry that will sport a full QWERTY keyboard, just like the majority of its predecessors and is rumored to run RIM’s latest BlackBerry OS 6.0, not that we’d expect anything else.

A first picture of the phone has been also leaked but don’t expect any complex visual changes for this model. This unconfirmed 9780 unit is said to have a chrome bezel a little darker than the regular Bold 9700 and it’s also expected to come with 512MB of flash memory on board and GSM support. Oh yeah, and since it’s running BlackBerry OS 6.0, a very touch-friendly mobile platform, we’re being told that this Berry is coming with a regular non-touchscreen display, which only goes to show that OS 6.0 will be compatible with non-touchscreen BlackBerry smartphones too.
RIM has been pretty quiet this year and we’re almost in August. The smartphone manufacturer is expected to roll out the BlackBerry Flip, the BlackBerry Slider, the BlackBerry Storm 3 and Curve 3 and who knows what else. But we have no official details on these phones yet, so what’s going on, RIM? I mean, sure, people are still buying your current smartphone models, but where are the 2010 models that should keep the competition at bay?
