Tron for iPhone & iPod touch Announced by Disney at Comic-Con 2010 [New Tron App for iPhone & iPod touch Now Available in the App Store; New Tron: Legacy Trailer Also Released]

By now you may be very well aware that one of the most expected movies of 2010 isn’t the new Avatar screening, which is supposed to have an extra never-before-seen 8-minute segmentm but Tron: Legacy the sequel of the original Tron movie made back in 1982.

In case you want a taste of Tron: Legacy right away you can check the video below, which happens to be the last trailer of the movie. If that’s not enough, and you happen to own an iPhone and/or iPod touch then you should check out Disney’s new app, entitled Tron, which has been announced in San Diego at this year’s Comic-Con event.

While the movie will only come to a cinema near you in December, you can certainly experience the whole Tron universe on your mobile device from Apple. Once you download the app and head to San Diego you will be able to “Enter the Grid” by simply checking in at the show via the GPS system of the phone. It’s worth checking the ComiTRON booth at Comic-Con as you’ll get an exclusive “golden ticket” to the Studio’s offsite ComiTRON event. In order to get the ticket you will have to have the application installed on your iPhone or iPod touch although it’s a little weird not to see Disney offer the same support to other mobile platforms.

The application is available free of charge and can be installed on your device right away. In terms of content it will offer you access to a new version of the Tanks game from the Tron Arcade, a trailer from Tron: Legacy and plenty of information on the upcoming Tron Evolution video game coming from Disney Interactive Studios. The closer we get to December, the more video content, music, free and premium games will be added so you’ll certainly be able to keep yourself busy until the movie hits cinemas.
