Introducing Autom, The Weight Loss Robot
I was starting to wonder what was happening with my robot news lately–it seemed like, briefly, stories about those charming little automatons had fallen into the horse latitudes. Then Autom hit the ether, and my whole outlook improved.
Autom, you see, is a weight loss robot. No, she doesn’t actually lose weight for you, something you’d likely need after all those other robots that were more than happy to fetch you snacks and beer whilst you remained seated. But what she (and yes, apparently, she’s a she) does do is help you lose weight.
Autom comes from Intuitive Automata, a robotics firm, and Autom boasts many interesting features. Of course, she’ll do all those great spreadsheet-type functions like tracking your diet and exercise, but she can also tell if you’re in a good mood or not based on your touchscreen responses. She’ll even have daily conversations of a sort with you, providing feedback and encouragement to get you to your weight loss goals.
Of course, she’ll probably end up making you want to toss her through the nearest window by the time all is both said and done, but hey…that’s how these things so often end up. Someone who spends any length of time calling you fat, well, they get introduced to the unpleasant part of gravity. But Autom will start testing with a major insurance company next year, so we may have to get one of these little ladies if we want to keep our health benefits.
