The LG Ally, which is the Android handset that came with the fancy Iron Man advertising is now receiving some extra attention in the form of an over-the-air update from Verizon. According to the details, the update process has already begun, though as always, it can take some time before it arrives for everyone. With that, sit tight and wait.

Now lets get into the details of the update, that way you can know what to expect when it arrives. First and foremost, this update is listed as software version VS740ZV8.

Otherwise, this update is nothing quite as fancy as a full OS update, in other words — its not Froyo. But on the flip side, it is said to include “numerous enhancements and improvements.” And I am pretty sure most people will not complain, even if those enhancements and improvements are on the smaller side.

As for getting the update, you will be notified when its available by way of an on-device alert. But for those who may be on the impatient side (or are roaming) just turn on Wi-Fi and then head to Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> System updates.

All said and done, the speed improvement on the camera should be welcomed — assuming it works. Then again, that is an issue that seems to affect more than just the LG Ally. I know my Droid Eris is about slow as can be when trying to launch the camera.
