Verizon Confirms Screen Flickering Issues
So, you may have heard that the phone we consider the current best Android phone out there is having some screen flickering issues. And that’s putting it mildly, like saying the Titanic had a little issue with water. Verizon has confirms the issues exist, and offered instructions.

The folks at Verizon have released the following statement:
Verizon Wireless and Motorola are aware of a very small number of DROID X units that have experienced a flickering or banding display. Motorola has resolved the issue and is continuing to ship the phones. Any consumer who experiences a flickering or banding display should contact a Motorola customer support center or Verizon Wireless.
Parallels between the Droid X screen and iPhone 4 antenna have already been made, but here’s why they’re different (and why Apple’s response to the Antennagate issue stinks).
- The Droid X issue appears to be in software. The iPhone 4 issue is a faulty design.
- Verizon admitted the problem after the phone had been out for less than a week. Apple waited 22 days.
- Verizon admitted there was a problem right away. Apple gave a half-assed apology before blaming it on a problem that all phones (allegedly) have.
Anyway, I’m sure the iFlock will jump all over this after being pounded for the last few weeks. You win some, you lose some.
