T-Mobile USA HSPA+ Network Now Reaches 85 Million Americans [T-Mobile Officially Releases webConnect Rocket 2.0 USB, Announces Plans To Have HSPA+ Coverage For 185 Million People By Years End]
T-Mobile USA has come back with another update in regards to their HSPA+ (4G) network rollout. This update gives some current numbers and some goals they plan to reach by years end as well as the official introduction of the webConnect Rocket 2.0 USB modem, which is an HSPA+capable device.

Lets begin with the current numbers — at present T-Mobile is now offering HSPA+ (4G) coverage in almost 50 areas across the US which means a total of about 85 million Americans have access to the service. The current list of areas includes;
- Birmingham, Alabama
- Anaheim, Burbank, Glendale, Irvine, Long Beach, Los Angeles and Ontario, California
- Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville, Florida
- Honolulu, Hawaii
- Indianapolis, Indiana
- Wichita, Kansas
- Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana
- Annapolis, Baltimore, Bethesda and Chevy Chase, Maryland
- Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- New York
- Asheville and Hickory, North Carolina
- Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio
- Portland, Oregon
- Greenville, South Carolina
- Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Waco, Texas
- Alexandria, McLean and Reston, Virginia
- Washington DC
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Furthermore, T-Mobile plans to have, and claims to be “on track to deliver” coverage to 185 million people in 100 major markets by the end of 2010.

Moving on, T-Mobile has also officially unveiled the webConnect Rocket 2.0 USB modem which will allow customers to take advantage of the HSPA+ network speeds. The Rocket 2.0 is pretty much the same as the original webConnect Rocket modem, with the addition of a rotating swivel USB. Otherwise, customers in an HSPA+ area can take advantage of the speed with other devices including the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook as well as the Samsung Vibrant smartphone.
Lastly, T-Mobile is also teasing of a new device which is expected to be unveiled shortly.
“And later this summer, T-Mobile will unveil its first HSPA+-capable smartphone. More details will be available in the coming weeks.”
