Acer Stream Android Smartphone Coming To The UK By Way Of Expansys

Those who happen to be in the UK and are also looking for a high end Android offering are in luck. Or more specifically, will be in luck as of August 3rd. Why August 3rd? Because that is the day when the Acer Stream will come available for purchase.

If you remember back, the Acer Stream was officially announced back at the end of May. And surprisingly we have heard relatively little about it since. That said, the quite phase appears to be over and it will soon be available in the UK by way of Expansys. Its also worth mentioning that Expansys is billing this as an “exclusive” offering.

Otherwise be prepared to shell out £399.99 for the privilege of making the purchase. For those outside the UK and not as familiar with the price, its roughly $610 in terms of US dollars.

Moving on to what you can expect in terms of features — the Acer Stream appears to have quite a bit going for it. Features will include a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, 512MB ROM, 512MB RAM, 2GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p video recording at 24fps. Other features include HDMI out, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Dolby Mobile sound.

In addition, the Stream will ship with Android 2.1 and Acer’s Touch 3D user interface. As of now there has been little said about a 2.2 Froyo update, though given the specs it seems likely that it will come with some time. Other software features include a few options for virtual keyboards, a smart dialer and “redesigned” contacts list as well as a new app called Spinlets which is a free music service that will allow the user to browse and listen to music.

And as you would likely have already guessed given the price, the Acer Stream comes SIM free and unlocked.
