Verizon 4G SIM Card Photo Leaked
For a while now, Sprint has enjoyed the luxury of claiming that they have America’s “first and only” 4G network. We know that Verizon is freight-training towards flipping the switch on their first LTE towers by the end of the year, and now, it’s getting really really close as pictures of the Verizon 4G SIM cards have popped up online.

A tipster named ‘RWN’ sent the folks at Engadget a picture of a Verizon 4G SIM card. SIM cards are going to be something new for Verizon customers. Their current voice/3G networks use CDMA technology, which doesn’t use SIM cards like the 4G networks. But, the LTE technology that Verizon is going with does require SIM cards, so Verizon 4G customers will be getting one of these beauties with their HTC Supersonic (the rumored Android superphone that’s rumored to be Verizon’s first 4G phone).
Verizon has said publicly that they’ll have a third of their customers covered by the end of this year, and by the end of 2012, the LTE network will surpass their CDMA network. Bold calms. As for when Big Red will flip the switch on their 4G network – we’ve seen the month November 2010 thrown around again and again.
As aforementioned, the phone codenamed “HTC Supersonic” will allegedly be running Android 3 and have a 4.3-inch screen and 1.2GHz processor – oh yeah, and it’ll be the first 4G phone on Verizon. We’ll see if it’s true – nothing has been confirmed but it would be awesome if it was.
Also interesting – some pundits have suggested that Apple may be waiting until AT&T and Verizon are both using LTE 4G before releasing a Verizon iPhone.
