Panasonic to Announce Lumix LX5 DMC-LX5K & DMC-LX5W in the Future, We Have Specs & Features Now

With the summer in full swing, you might be looking for a handy point-and-shoot digital camera to take some proper pictures. Sure you could always take great shots and lots of videos using your camera phone, but it’s still not a real camera, is it?


Panasonic seems to have a couple of compact cameras for you, part of the LX5 line, but they’re not quite official yet. That doesn’t mean we don’t have specs and features for you. In fact we definitely do as two cameras of the new Lumix LX 5 line, the DMC-LX5K and the DMC-LX5W have been leaked in all its glory.

They are both point-and-shoot cameras and here’s what you can expect from them:

  • 10.1 megapixel F2.0 Leica DC Summicron Lens (10 elements in 9 groups)
  • 3.8x optical zoom
  • 4x digital zoom
  • Focal length: f=5.1-19.2mm (24-90mm in 35mm equiv.)
  • (25-95mm in 35mm equiv. in movie recording)
  • Focus: Normal / Macro Quick AF On/Off (On in Intelligent Auto), Continuous AF On/Off
  • AF/MF Switchable, Manual Focus (Jog Dial), One Shot AF, AF Area Select, AF Tracking
  • ISO Sensitivity: Auto / i.ISO / 80 / 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 / 6400* / 12800* (* by pixel mixed readout), High Sensitivity (ISO 1600-12800)
  • Face Detection for Photo and Movie
  • Lots of photo and video shooting modes
  • HD video recording
  • External flash
  • 3.0-inch TFT LC display
  • Battery life: up to 400 pictures
