Verizon Unleashes Awesome Droid X Commercial
Today, a new Verizon commercial for the Droid X came out that is very high-budget cool. It features a group of astronauts going down into an underground complex, only to find an floating rock in some kind of chamber. Check the embedded video below – it’s much cooler than it sounds.

With it’s wide-angle sweeping shots, high production values and awesome music, it definitely wasn’t cheap, but we’re not really sure what this has to do with the phone. There is some debate here as to if the phone (Droid X) is inside the floating rock at the end, but whatever, it’s very cool and has sort of a Event Horizon/Dead Space vibe to it. Feel free to post your own theories about the commercial in the comments.
Regarding the phone itself, I’m sure you’ve heard about it, but it’s got a 4.3-inch screen, 1GHz processor, 8-megapixel camera, Android 2.1 – the works. I’m holding a review unit in my hand at the moment and our official TFTS review of the phone will be up tomorrow.
What do you think? Is the commercial cool? Does it make you want a Droid X? What do you think about the phone?

the phone is obviously in the rock at the end.. thats the whole point of the commercial.. really?
Very cool!
Remember the movie, “2001″? What do the cool astronauts have to do with the Droid X? It’s 2001 like monolithic message (only in this case a asteroid like rock) yells out that this phone is from out of this world, and will deliver a whole new level of communication to those, the chosen ones, who will use it…. Anyway, if nothing else, it’s a cool commercial.
What is the music playing in the background? Is it a special score just for the commercial, or can you download a longer version somewherer?
Oh, and as far as the meaning of the commercial, do I really even have to point out the obvious pun – that the Droid X is “out of this world?”
The commercial’s very cool! Better than the one with the eye. !D
