Kame Robotto Represents First Ever Turtle Robot
Like I said yesterday, I don’t know what it is about the robot news lately. Another bit has found its way to me, this time a genuine first. You’ve heard of humanoid robots and wheeled and tracked robots, but now? Now we’ve got a turtle-shaped robot from the folks at Kondo, a Japanese robotics firm.
The turtle-shaped robot, the Kame Robotto, is actually the first in an entire set of so-called “animal robots” Kondo’s got planned to hit the market over the course of the next several months.
It’s a fairly simple robot, with only nine joints and a lack of cameras or sensors. Even a remote control goes without inclusion in the basic set–you’ll have to pick one up separate if you want remote control over the turtle-bot.
Our Japanese readership–and those others who have good importer contacts–interested in this model will be happy to know that the Kame Robotto will go on sale tomorrow for $450. However, those interested without importer contact will go wanting, as Kondo’s not looking to export these any time soon.
