iBuypower Battalion 101 W860CU-3D Gaming Notebook Now Available, Priced From $1749

Those looking for a 3G capable notebook will now have one more option to pick from when making a purchase. The latest comes by way of iBuypower and the specific model is the Battalion 101 W860CU-3D. First things first, the pricing, which in this case starts at $1,749.

As for what you will get for your hard earned money — in short, a notebook that appears to be nicely spec’d and one that is also capapble of displaying 3D games and playing 3D movies on Blu-ray.

Feature wise, the W860CU-3D comes touting a 15.6 inch widescreen 3D-capable display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-520M processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M graphics card, 4GB of DDR3-1333 RAM and a 320 GB (5400RPM) hard drive.

Other features include a Blu-ray optical drive, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, fingerprint reader, memory card reader, Ethernet, 56K modem, one Firewire, three USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, a 2 megapixel webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium and a free carrying case. Getting back to the display and the 3D for a moment, the system will also ship with a pair of NVIDIA’s 3D Vision Active Shutter glasses.

That said, those are the standards but like always there are plenty of upgrades available. And in the case of the W860CU-3D some of the options to pick from include processor upgrades to a faster Core i5 or a Core i7 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and as much as 750GB of storage.

Interestingly enough, the press release announcement makes mention of “more than 400 3D ready games.” Personally I would have thought that number to be higher, but I guess despite all the hype currently surrounding 3D, we are still early in its lifespan. That said, I am sure that 400 will grow rather quickly moving forward.

Finally, the W860CU-3D is available as of today and can be found on the iBuypower website. In addition, the notebook includes a one-year limited warranty and lifetime technical support.
