China Renews Google License

China Officially Renews ICP Operating License With Google

It looks like Google’s plan to convince China to renew its ICP license has worked. Posted here late last month, Google had initially taken out the redirection of Chinese visitors to try and lower the friction brewing between them and the China government.

Add to that the fact that China also bared that their license would not expire until 2012. Now that made it really interesting but thankfully, all’s well that ends well.

China has officially renewed its license and Google hopes to create better ties with the Chinese government and of course the Chinese community.

Trouble started when Google announced that they were being hacked by some Chinese hackers and some IPs were stolen.

There was also that censorship issue that got out of hand thus forcing Google to redirect Chinese visitors to the Google HongKong site.

But now it seems all that is water under the bridge. The ICP license has been renewed and hopefully better days ahead are in store for both Google and the Chinese government.

This includes providing web search and offering local products to the users located in China.
