ASUS EeePC 1215N To Make Its US Debut In August

ASUS EeePC 1215N Netbook With Intel Atom CPU, NVIDIA Ion GPU Will Hit US Shelves This August

Believe it or not, some of the first computers ever made filled entire rooms and still didn’t stack up to even a percentage of the functionality of even the cheapest computers on the market today. However, as time progressed the need for a smaller and more personal computer increased thus leading to much more portable hardware. First introduced in the late 1900s was the flip-top laptop form factor that we’ve come to know and love today with the Grid Compass. While it featured just 340 KB of RAM and a display resolution of 320 x 240, it started a revolution that would change the computing world for good.

Laptops progressed nicely ever since they were first introduced and managed to retain a high level of power while keeping a slim form factor. However, back in 2007 companies discovered a new niche of highly portable laptop computers that featured a low price, small screens, low computing power and the absence of features like an optical drive. Netbooks, as these small machines have been dubbed, have been released by virtually ever hardware manufacturer ever since.

ASUS, in particular, was one company to really pioneer the form factor with their line up of EeePCs. Thesse machines were some of the first on the market and have spanned countless renditions ever since their original release.

Towards the beginning of this month we told you about one of ASUS’ latest EeePCs, the 1215N. This brand new netbook is to feature an Intel Atom D525 processor, an NVIDIA ION GPU, a display resolution of 1366 x 76, 250/320GB of storage, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n WiFi and a built-in webcam for video conferencing.

At the time of its announcement, all we learned were the specs but today ASUS has come forth to let us know that the machine will be making its US debut sometime around August 23rd. Unfortunately, no price point was set in stone but our sources tell us it should linger right around $500.
