Sprint Samsung Intercept Specs & Features Now Official [Sprint Makes the Samsung Intercept Official a Few Hours After Taking Pre-orders for the Android Phone]

Earlier today we told you that Sprint has the Samsung Intercept available for pre-order at $99 and shipping on July 11. We have no idea if Sprint intended to put it up for pre-order, especially as we’re just a few days away from July 11, but the carrier also decided it was time it announced it officially this evening.

The Samsung Intercept seems to be a great Android device although not comparable with the HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid X or Samsung Galaxy S. The Intercept is going to offer you a great Android experience but it’s not the cream of the Android crop.

The smartphone comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The phone will offer you a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording, plenty of social apps and support for “one-touch picture posting to the top social sites. But here’s a list of specs and features coming straight from Sprint’s official press release:

  • Home screen that scrolls right to left for more space to organize widgets and apps (I’ll have to pop out the ironic-comment tool and ask Sprint if that’s the first thing it wants to tell the reader since this feature will definitely not suffice to impress)
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera and video camcorder
  • MP3 Player with MicroSD card slot (supports up to 32 GB)
  • Stereo Bluetooth wireless technology
  • Visual voicemail
  • Sprint TV, Sprint Football Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile
  • Access to social networking sites Facebook, Flickr and Twitter
  • Access to personal and corporate e-mail
  • Easily view Word, Excel, PowerPoint on-the-go to maximize productivity

The phone will be available on July 11 through all Sprint’s channels and it will cost you $99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new 2-year contract or “eligible upgrade on an Everything Plan with data.” The phone will come in crazy colors, Gray Steel and Satin Pink but you aren’t getting it for these fancy color names are you?

So let’s hear it from the crowds then! Is the Samsung Intercept worthy of your attention or not really?
