Motorola Droid Android 2.2 Froyo Update Coming July 13?
Following the Google Nexus One official Froyo update, we are now waiting for other devices to get the same Android version. As we already know the Motorola Droid is going to be one of the first handsets to get Android 2.2 and we have already seen an unofficial version available for you.

Of course that’s not enough for most of you and we’re definitely waiting for Motorola and Verizon to come up with the officially official Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid. Recent rumors already suggest a date for the Froyo update and although we can’t verify it yet it looks like the Droid will get Android 2.2 on July 13. That’s in less than two weeks and it will be great to see the Droid run Froyo that soon.
We’ll also note that last time we announced the Android 2.1 update for the Droid we then had to tell you it was being postponed and postponed again up to a point where we weren’t sure when Éclair was going to be available for Droid owners. So the same thing might happen again which means there’s no point getting overexcited about July 13. Not to mention the thirteen factor!
As soon as the Android 2.2 release for the Motorola Droid becomes available we can only expect the Droid X to get the same treatment in the very near future, although, at this point, we’re told the Droid X will get Froyo at some point in August.
Similarly Sprint is also in an apparent rush to make Froyo available to its HTC EVO 4G customers so we’re also expecting HTC’s flagship device to get Android 2.2 at some point in the following weeks, although we don’t have any rumored dates for you right now.
Let’s hear it from you, Motorola Droid owners, have you installed your unofficial Froyo version already or are you waiting for Moto to release the real deal?

I’m a moto droid owner. I’m waiting for the officially official froyo update to come out. So anxious for it to be release
i have the moto droid and i rooted it and put the unofficial froyo update. the features were really nice but then after a little it started FC and the market app wouldn’t even work. so just wait for the official update
I have moto droid and with froyo rooted and it works great…websites work with the flash player…I like all features of it
I’m waiting on the official release. Hoping it’ll be bug free and amazing!
I rooted my droid to have the update early. However, I am going to unroot the closer we get to an official release.
I simply cant wait for froyo to be released. Tethering is my only means of internet besides the browser on my phone. This update will be even better than frozen yogurt itsself. (Which is alot to say)
Well… it’s the 13th… I wonder how early Verizon wakes up?
Welp, it’s July 13… no froyo for me yet!
geez!… the anticipation is killing me!!… wifi hot spot! That would be amazing!… moto droid
If this does not happen soon, I am going to freeze myself so that I wake up in the future after Froyo is released for Droid!
Bullshit froyo won’t come out till the end of the year with the way this is going, Google is a flake & they lie
Im not sure if you all realize this, but there are plenty of apps for wifi tethering. Try pdanet, there is a free trial that works great.
The 13th and 14th came and went. Now I’m sitting here waiting for the update to happen. Why do they tease us with “very soon” comments or dates if they can’t step up. If there’s unofficial updates that work, why can Verizon / Google get this going. I WANT MY FROYO..!!
Screw this i’m done waiting, Verizon is a piece of crap i’m switching to T-Mobile & getting the nexus one they have Froyo already… Later Verizon
I’m beginning to wonder if vibrant will get 2.2os what is the hold up? please quit teasing us with false dates, and sent it already, Ty
