Nokia Exec May Have Confirmed MeeGo Tablet
Nokia recently named Mr. Anssi Voanjoki as the ‘Mobile Solutions Chief’, and he sat down with the Wall Street Journal for an interview regarding MeeGo and Nokia’s future. The new Mobile Solutions division is big for Nokia, who organized it to increase development of high-end smartphones. But, did they just let slip that a MeeGo tablet is coming from Nokia?

During the article, the WSJ writes this one paragraph that may hint that a tablet is coming.
Due to the spread of cloud computing and new advances in electronics and network technology, mobile devices will increasingly move beyond smartphones to include other computer-like gadgets such as tablets, and the MeeGo platform will be an important asset for Nokia, he said.
Nokia has dabbled in tablet-like things before. Their Nokia N810 and other similar products were actually dubbed ‘Internet Tablets’ although they were really unlike the iPad. They were more similar to big smartphones, like the EVO 4G and Droid X. They were however running Maemo (Nokia’s predecessor to MeeGo), so you’ve got to expect Nokia to release something more similar, instead of a new iPad-like tablet.
As I mentioned earlier, details are scare, and the WSJ didn’t provide any further details regarding when we could see these tablets. It’s possible, one supposes, that Voanjoki was just hypothesizing something like ‘we’re doing something like tablets’, but let’s hope that they’ve got a proper MeeGo tablet coming.
