Once again, the numbers have come in from AdMob. This time were talking about the stats from May and in more specifically Android. In particular we see some interesting numbers in terms of which devices are most popular, which goes hand in hand with which companies are producing the most popular handsets and where all of the Android users seem to be living.

First and foremost though, this data is notes as being based on “12.7 million Android devices in the AdMob network in May 2010.
With that out of the way, lets dive right in. At current the most popular Android smartphone is the Motorola Droid with a total of 21%. Of course, the remaining of the top ten are dominated by HTC handsets. Aside from the Droid, the only other Motorola model was the CLIQ which came in with 5%.
As for those HTC’s, the Hero has 16%, the Magic with 10%, the Dream with 9%, the Droid Eris with 8% and the Desire and Legend with 3% apiece. Otherwise, you have the Samsung Moment sitting (almost) in the middle with 5% and the Nexus One in position ten with 2%.

And after looking at those numbers and models, it should come with little surprise that if you break it down by country you have a total of 66% coming from the US. And then take a big jump down to the number two position with China coming in with 13%. After that you have the UK with 4%, France, Japan and Germany with 2% and Korea, Spain, Canada and Sweden rounding out the top ten with 1% each.
