Top 10 iPhone 4 Issues or Why Not to Buy the iPhone 4 Now

iPhone 4 Known Issues: Antenna Reception, Overheating, Syncing, Camera, Proximity Sensor, Steve Jobs & More] (u)

We have extensively covered the iPhone 4 since before we know what it was going to be called or whether or not it was going to be lost in a bar. And despite the fact it might be the best phone out there, it might still be a good idea not to buy it yet.

Here’s our top ten, in reversed order, for not buying the device just yet.

Reason #10: Android

With all the Android phones out there, you’re definitely not going to need an iPhone 4 after reading the issues below. How is Android an iPhone 4 issue? Well if it wasn’t for Android then the iPhone 4 would rule the mobile world and we don’t want just one player in there.

Reason #9: Scratches

The new iPhone can be easily scratched so no matter how cool the new design really is, you’ll hate yourself the minute you scratch it. And if you put it in a case then, well, you won’t be able to take advantage of that beautifully crafted device

Reason #8: Breaking

The glass is 30 times stronger in this iPhone 4 but the device still breaks. That’s right, you won’t be taking this device to warzones but you still want it to survive an innocent, unintentional drop, wouldn’t you?

Reason #7: Syncing and iOS 4

Moving past the fact that iOS 4 comes without Flash support, which is something you can learn to leave with, we seen various reports saying that iPhone OS is failing to appropriately sync with your computer. Not to mention the antenna problems which are also blamed on iOS 4 or the blurry images post syncing the device. And while we’re at it we can also talk about camera shutter problems, can’t we? It’s stil iOS 4

Reason #6: Proximity Sensor

Yeah, you’ll say that the Proximity Sensor is also part of iOS 4. But we listed it as a separate reason for not getting the iPhone as, according to various reports, it prevents users from having decent conversations. The Proximity Sensor doesn’t work appropriately and you could end your conversations a lot faster than anticipated.

Reason #5: FaceTime

It’s definitely a great product, only it works over Wi-Fi alone and only from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4. Don’t you feel like you’re not given a lot of choice there?

Reason #4: Overheating

That’s the most annoying thing that can happen to a phone, and there’s no fix or work around it. If it overheats you won’t be able to use it to talk to your friends, send emails, play games, listen to music or watch videos. So why is it only on #4? That’s because the new iPhone 4 can let us down in so many other “better” ways.

Reason #3: AT&T

AT&T’s network isn’t better yet and the iPhone 4, despite dropping calls, it still working under the same conditions. Add to that the unavailability of unlimited data plans and you end up with a carrier you have to hate for two more years of your life. If you happen to live elsewhere than the USA then you’ll only have 9 reasons not to buy the iPhone 4 now, which is still a pretty good number.

Reason #2: Antenna Issues

Unlike overheating, you can fix this yourself by not holding the device in your left hand or by getting a protective case and bumpers. But the antenna reception issues have been affecting a lot of customers and that’s why we can consider it the main con when it comes to buying the iPhone 4. And until iPhone 4G comes along it doesn’t look like it will be permanently fixed.

Reason #1: Steve Jobs

That’s right, the more we hear about his snappy answers to customers, the more we tend to wonder what has happened to this iconic figure for the iconic world. He leads the most out-of-the-box company I know in the most dictatorial way possible in a democracy. But that’s what made Apple work and deliver such great products. So when did Apple forget that the customer always comes first? When did Apple forget it’s all about being different than others? Why are we told the iPhone 4 “is just a phone”? Why buy the darned thing if it’s just a phone? There are plenty of devices that are more than a phone out there worthy of our attention. So it looks like Mr. Jobs didn’t say the iPhone was just a phone, and we’re not afraid to admit we were wrong based on the information we got, to put those words in his mouth or rather email. See, Apple, that’s what you do when you are wrong, admit it and them move forward trying to correct it. We’re still not happy about the fact we’re not holding it the right way!

Do you have any other reason for not wanting to buy the iPhone 4 yet?

      Well,

Had the iPhone 4 for a week now, and I wish I had just got the android phone instead. Keeps getting hot, and resets – during calls, or apps.

Big big fan of 3GS, but apple have got it wrong. I am unlikely to buy apple again, and am in the market for a replacement phone

I’ve tried the 3G IPhone, and to be fair, this worked well. Even though I had read the bad press that the Iphone 4 got on launch, I thought that after 12 months or so, that Apple would have resolved the issues such as the antenna problem.

I have noticed issues regarding the faulty proximity sensor, and only realised the severity of the issue until I looked it up on the web.

I am deeply disappointed with my Iphone, and will not be buying again.
