Puma Phone Gets An Official Announcement, Will Be Available Across Europe Selling Sim-free For €399
Sagem Wireless and Puma AG have made the official announcement for the Puma Phone. Of course, this is not the first we are hearing about this device, but it has been a while since. The good news is that we now have the official details in terms of pricing and availability.

With that lets dive right in, the Puma Phone is going to be released in Europe. And breaking that down a little further, those located in Germany, UK, Italy, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Romania, Macedonia and Slovenia will be the ones lucky enough to get the device.
As for pricing, the Puma Phone will come with a €399 (about $485 US) price tag for those looking to go contract (SIM) free. Additionally it will also be offered by way of carriers with a subsidy. Though specific carrier pricing has not been announced as of yet. That said, according to the details in the press release, the handset is available from June 2010, so it seems that anything carrier specific should be coming soon.
Lets move on and touch on the features. First and foremost on this aspect is that the Puma Phone is being marketed towards “18-30 year old subscribers who lead an active lifestyle.” And with that, this first feature makes perfect sense — a integrated solar panel on the back of the phone. According to the details on this panel;
“one hour of sunshine provides power for one hour and 30 minutes of MP3 play or enough energy to send about 30 text messages”
Otherwise the handset will also have a 2.8 inch “thumbable” QVGA (240 x 320) display, 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and 6x zoom, front facing VGA camera for video calling, GPS, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, FM radio, built-in music player, HSPA and W-CDMA/EDGE/GPRS/GSM connectivity and a microSD card slot with a 2GB card pre-installed. Plus you will also find some more sport related features such as a pedometer, stopwatch and GPS tracker.
