Xbox Live Arcade Games to be Very Windows Phone 7 Friendly?

Microsoft Confirms That Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Will Get All Current Xbox Live Arcade Games on Launch Date

With E3 out of the way it doesn’t mean we’re still not going to focus on gaming anymore, as gaming, and especially the mobile kind of gaming, seems to be playing a more and more important role in our lives.

With hot devices like the iPhones, iPod touches and iPads out there that have access to tons of mobile games from various providers, we’re witnessing the mobile gaming industry growing at a very fast pace. Android is surely catching up and Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS and future 3DS will have a hard time fighting handheld gaming devices that happen to also act as smartphones.

Microsoft has the edge over Sony and Nintendo as the Redmond-based giant seems ready to make an important move in the mobile business, integrate console gaming into a smartphone. That’s definitely something the main players in the smartphone business can’t match and we can only assume that lots of Xbox fans will get that new Windows Phone 7 handsets just for the gaming prospects.

The fact that Microsoft is serious about gaming has been apparently confirmed in London where Oden Ran, head of Consumer marketing for Windows phone said that all current Xbox Live Arcade games will be ported to the Windows Phone 7 with just “four lines of code.”

That’s definitely an impressive statement and we can’t wait to see the end results. The first Windows Phone 7 handsets are coming this fall, probably at some point in October, so you have plenty of time to get excited about playing Xbox Live Arcade games while on the go, from your handheld gaming device that also acts as a WP7 smartphone. And we can only expect developers to be pretty excited to have their games ported to the WP7 environment which means we’ll probably have access to lots of Xbox Live Arcade games right on launch date.

We have high expectations from Microsoft on this particular mobile platform, Windows Phone 7, and we definitely hope the end product and the first smartphones will meet most of them. Why? Because, quite frankly, we need one more important asset in the mobile devices world or else we will be watching an Apple vs Google dogfight for a long while and we won’t be always able to choose sides.
