Verizon Will Let You Change Pre-Order From Droid Incredible To Droid X, No Charge [Ordered a Droid Incredible But Want A Droid X? Call Verizon and You Won't Be Charged A Restocking Fee]

It seems like every month there’s a new hot Android phone out that everybody wants. The Droid Incredible had all the Verizon users watering at the mouth a few days ago – but now, the phone looks small compared to the upcoming Droid X superphone. What if you want to change your pre-order? Those who pre-ordered at a Verizon retail store will be allowed to change their pre-order for free, with no restocking fees.

This news comes to us by way of BoyGeniusReport, who’s hearing it internally from inside Verizon. The Droid Incredible was/is plagued with OLED screen shortages (blame Samsung) since launch, and has been extremely hard to come by (most outlets reporting 2-3 week wait on the phone). Since the new Droid X is coming in about 2-3 weeks, Verizon will be letting customers transfer their pre-orders.

Motorola has assured Verizon that they’ll have enough in stock to cover this launch, so everything should be okay. The Droid X uses a traditional TFT display, as opposed to the (better looking but) harder to manufacturer OLED displays that HTC is fond of.

Unfortunately, this deal doesn’t seem to apply to those who have pre-ordered Droid Incredibles at other outlets, like Best Buy or Amazon. They may offer their own deal though, so keep your eyes peeled.
