iPhone 4 Antenna Reception Issues to be Fixed by Apple? [Apple Hiring Antenna Specialists for the iPhone & the iPad; We Thought This Was a Non-Issue]
Apple has been telling us for days now that the iPhone 4 antenna reception issue is basically a non-issue. So many other handsets act similarly and that’s a fact that can’t be disputed.

But while Cupertino is instructing customer care to address accordingly such non-existent problems that some users claim to have, some of these affected users themselves are working on class action suits. So is it a real issue or do we simply love to pick on Apple, and on everyone else for that matter, when they mess up our hot phones?
Well it looks like Apple is treating this non-issue seriously as it has decided to hire some antenna specialists to fix a problem that doesn’t exist, or better said, to improve the quality of antennas in future iPhone and iPad models.
And it’s not just one job that Apple posted up there, but there are plenty of positions for antenna-related activities:
- Antenna Engineer – iPad/iPhone
- iPhone OTA Wireless Systems Engineer
These job postings are dated June 23, which is probably when some early iPhone 4 users have started to spot this non-issue. And Apple is looking for qualified personnel with at least ten years in the industry. Do you qualify? If you do, then let us know what magical antenna project you’ll be working on at Apple (well we had to try and ask you for some info but we know that those NDA agreements will probably forbid you to even think about work when at home)!
So, Apple, care to explain what’s going on? Admitting that you were wrong would take a lot of guts and it would probably make your faithful customers like you even more. The smart thing to do would be owning up to this unforeseen antenna issue, get everyone a free plastic bumper which costs you, what, $2 to make (uneducated guess here), and go on about your business.
Saying that nothing is wrong with the device as long as customers can still replicate the problem will not help that much and claiming that other handsets have the same problem is plain idiotic. Especially since Apple products aren’t supposed to be like any other devices, but better!
So what is it going to be, Apple? Free bumpers and better qualified engineers to deal with the problems or a nasty class action suit that will affect your image and will probably end in the customer’s favor?
