Full-page Motorola Ad Pokes Fun Of iPhone 4 Reception Issues
Before Apple made the iPhone, Motorola was unquestionably the #1 American mobile phone manufacturer. After the success of the iPhone, Motorola’s been playing catch up with their various Android devices. The iPhone 4′s reception issues is a pretty serious misstep for the top dog in the smartphone space – and Motorola didn’t let it pass.

TechCrunch is reporting that today’s New York Times features a full-page ad for Motorola that highlights the Droid X, it’s huge 4.3-inch screen, and all of the other features. And, at the bottom, is a very quiet dig at Apple. It reads:
And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.
Really, it’s like Motorola is just trying to bait the Apple fans into a frenzy. However you look at it, the iPhone 4 is getting a far bit of negative press with its antenna issues and you can’t fault Motorola for the low-blow.
Like wise, the part regarding “use it just about anywhere” also seems to be a dig at AT&T and their allegedly spotty network. As mentioned by the post, the Droid X is coming July 15th.
What do you think, low-blow by Verizon/Motorola or just good marketing?
