Virgin Mobile MiFi Now On Sale
The folks at the Sprint-owned Virgin Mobile US have finally released their Novatel MVNO MiFi hub. Our man Robert told you about it a few weeks back, and now it’s on sale from Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile is asking $149 for the device, and it then offers various pre-paid blocks of bandwidth.

As mentioned, you can now order this now from Virgin Mobile. What’s interesting is that Virgin Mobile US is a subsidiary of Sprint-Nextel. Sprint’s competitor, Verizon Wireless, is already selling prepaid MiFi mobile bandwidth but for whatever reason, Sprint has delegated their prepaid MiFi mobile bandwidth offerings to their Virgin Mobile subsidiary.
Granted – Virgin Mobile is one of Sprint-Nextel’s prepaid divisions in the United States, but considering the advertising war the big four American cell carriers have, you’d think that Sprint would want something to match up against with Verizon, or something to best AT&T and T-Mobile.
As Robert mentioned in his initial report on the Novatel NVMO, you can expect about 4 hours of battery life with the device in use, or 40 hours with it on standby. A bit low, don’t expect to spend all-day in the field.
With the MiFi, Virgin Mobile’s Broadband2Go rates are unchanged.
- $10 – 100MB – 10 days
- $20 – 300MB – 30 days
- $40 – 1GB – 30 days
- $60 – 5GB – 30 days
As mentioned, this is all prepaid and contract-free.
Anybody considering picking up some prepaid MiFi from Virgin Mobile US?
