Kindle For iPhone and iPod Now Offers Audio and Video

The Kindle Experience on Apple Devices Just Got Enhanced

So yesterday, you just heard about how Android devices will be getting their own version of Amazon’s Kindle ereader app. But today, a new development emerges that’ll make you think twice if you haven’t already taken a side in the iPhone / Android war: iPhones, and iPod Touches, and even iPads, will get a new version of Kindle with both video and audio.

This proves to be a downright exciting idea–browsing through Amazon’s offerings in the enhanced Kindle department definitely caught my interest–and included exciting concepts like a book about the Beatles that offered in-depth analysis of a variety of songs, or a book about cakes that included full video footage of preparation of said cakes (which pretty much justifies the entire concept of “foodie porn”).

There are only about a dozen or so titles so far that boast the claim of being enhanced with audio and video, so it’s left to us to wonder if this is a gradual rollout or just a test to gauge interest. Either way, though, it should be interesting to watch.
